◆ FilmForge

<!-- NOT YET REVIEWED BY A LAWYER. The FFmpeg position below reflects the

2026-08-01 decision recorded in CLAUDE.md: the hosted service invokes

the ffmpeg program in a subprocess and distributes nothing, so no

copyleft obligation attaches; re-evaluate the build (GPL vs LGPL) before

ever shipping a downloadable binary, and have a lawyer confirm the

arm's-length reasoning at that point. SUPPORT_EMAIL_TBD is a deliberate

greppable token - substitute the real support address everywhere it

appears once the mailbox exists. -->

Licence

Effective date: 2026-08-17

Your output

You own the video files FilmForge produces from your footage, to the same

extent you owned the footage you put in.

We claim no rights in your output. You may use it commercially, edit it,

publish it and sell it without paying us anything further and without crediting

us.

If your source footage was licensed to you with conditions, those conditions

still apply to the output. Running a clip through FilmForge does not launder

someone else's rights.

The software

The FilmForge software is proprietary. It is licensed, not sold. You are

granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the hosted Service

under the Terms of Service.

You may not copy, redistribute, sublicense or reverse engineer the software

except where the law expressly permits it regardless of contract.

Third party components

FilmForge is built on open source software and complies with the licences of

each component. The main ones:

not distribute FFmpeg and does not link against its libraries, and you

receive video files, not software, so FFmpeg's licence terms (GPL or LGPL,

depending on the build) impose no obligation on your use of the Service.

Full licence texts are available on request from SUPPORT_EMAIL_TBD.

Trademarks

Names of film stocks, tape formats, cameras and their manufacturers that may

appear in the Service, its documentation or its marketing are trademarks of

their respective owners. Any such reference is descriptive only: it

identifies the visual characteristics of a format being emulated, the way

"sounds like a 1960s valve amplifier" describes a sound. No reference implies

any connection with, or approval by, the owner of the mark.

The output of the Service is an emulation. It is not made on, recorded to, or

derived from any manufacturer's film or tape product.

No affiliation

FilmForge is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any

manufacturer of film stock, videotape, cameras or recording equipment.
